Titanium 3-2.5 Bar and Tubing
Key attributes of Titanium 3-2.5 Bar include improved strength over commercially pure grades and excellent corrosion resistance, formability and weldability. Titanium 3-2.5 Bar is commonly available from both distributors and mill sources. In the cold worked, stress relieved condition Titanium 3-2.5 Bar can obtain a tensile up to 125,000, a yield up to 105,000, and elongation up to 15 %. Principally, Titanium 3-2.5 is used for tubing in aircraft and engine hydraulic systems. Titanium 3-2.5 is also found in golf clubs, tennis rackets and performance bicycles.
Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing
Forming of Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing may be hot or cold formed using hydropress, power brake, stretch, or drop hammer methods. Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing is also similar in characteristics to 300 series stainless steels. For solution treating, heat Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing to 871-927 C (1600-1700 F), hold for 15 to 20 minutes and water quench. Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing rough work can be performed at 900 C (1650 F), while finishing operations should be performed at 843 C (1550 F). For aging, heat Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing to 482-510 C (900-950 F), hold for 2 to 8 hours, and air cool.
Titanium 3-2.5 is also known as Ti-3AL-2.4V or simply Ti-3-2.5. Titanium 3-2.5 Bar or Titanium 3-2.5 Tubing is grouped in with the commercially pure grades because it is cold rollable. Its strengths fall between strengths of Grade 4 and Grade 5, and it also has excellent corrosion resistance and is used in aerospace and industrial applications. Titanium 3-2.5 can be used at higher temperatures than Grades 1 through 4. Titanium 3-2.5 is sometimes referred to as "half 6-4". It offers 20-50% higher strength than C.P. grades, but is more formable and weldable then Ti-6AI-4V. Titanium 3-2.5 Bar Tubing combines strength, weldability and formability.
